Address
Brindle Community Hall - or in church - depending on availability of volunteering adults, Water Street, Brindle, PR6 8NH

On the first and third Sundays of each month (during term time) children are welcome to meet at the Brindle Community Hall. To help make sure that Sunday School runs smoothly could we kindly ask that all pre-school children be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the session. Parents and carers of older children join the 10.30am service. The children will walk to church with their leaders towards the end of the service.

Occasionally (when there is a special event in church or there are insufficient Sunday School leader volunteers) the Sunday School meet in the Cavendish Chapel at the far side of church. So, if the Brindle Community Hall door is locked, please bring your children to church by 10.30am.

The Sunday school is well attended. The older children expand topics to suit their more capable abilities and deeper understanding of the Christian faith. A number of our older Sunday school children have been confirmed and it is a pleasure to watch them take communion as part of their Sunday worship.

Throughout the year, Sunday School is during term time weeks only

Hunger Lunch after church until 2pm on Sunday 23rd March

Occurring
for 2 hours, 30 mins
Venue
Brindle St James
Address
Water Street Brindle Chorley, PR6 8NG, United Kingdom

Brindle St James’ church invites you to a Hunger Lunch after church until 2pm on Sunday 23rd March. There will be a choice of tomato or chicken soup served in a beaker with a bread roll. Tea, coffee and squash are also available. If anyone would like to offer cakes they will be gratefully received and may be brought to the hall on Sunday after 10am.

You are invited to make a donation, suggested £5 or more if you are able, but please come prepared with cash.

A Church Hunger Lunch is typically organized by a church community to raise awareness and funds for people experiencing hunger and poverty. The modest meal of soup and bread is intended to symbolize solidarity with those who have limited access to food. It is hoped those attending might donate what they would have spent on a more substantial meal, with proceeds going to charities, food banks, or initiatives addressing hunger locally or globally.

These events are often held during Lent or other times of reflection, emphasizing themes of compassion, gratitude, and social justice. The concept has evolved from early Christian practices of sharing food with the poor to modern initiatives addressing hunger and poverty.

Charities which have benefitted previously include Northwest Air Ambulance, Blackburn Rummage Rescuers, Foxton Centre supporting the homeless, Salvation Army and Christian Aid.

On this occasion it has been decided to support local charities with the proceeds being shared by St Catherine’s Hospice and Derian House.

Please be generous and thank you in advance for your support.
