It has been a long three months since we first entered lockdown, and St Paul's Church closed for public worship. With the announcement last week that places of worship could reopen from 4 July, we have been working hard to formulate a plan to allow us to get back to some form of worship as soon as possible. We are pleased to announce that as of this coming weekend, and subject to some measures to mitigate the risks of transmission of Covid, we will return to celebrating a daily mass. The first mass since lockdown will be celebrated at 9.30 am on Saturday 4 July, as a mass of thanksgiving for Fr David's 16th anniversary of ordination as a priest. Following that, on Sunday we will return to celebrating masses at 8.00 am and 10.30 am, with Evening Prayer and Benediction at 6.00 pm.Worship will be slightly different to normal, in that there will be measures in place to ensure social distancing, and thus limiting the numbers in church to 28 households. Once the limit has been reached, sidespeople will need to ask any further people to come to another service. If this happens, we will consider implementing a booking system for future weeks.Seating has been arranged to allow 2m distancing between worshippers, and only every other pew will be in use. Worshippers will be asked to follow a one-way route through the Church, and to sanitise their hands as they come forward to receive Holy Communion, which will be offered in one kind (the Host) only at this time. For further information please see Fr David's Pastoral Letter of 1 July here.To view the Reopening Plan Document, please click here.To view the Covid Risk Assessment, please click here.
