This last 12 months has been difficult for the whole of the nation. We have found our lives restricted as together we have sought to contain a virus which has tragically claimed the lives of over 125,000 people in our country alone and over 2.5 million people across the world. 23 March marks the anniversary of our country's first lockdown, when we were all asked to stay at home, protect the NHS, and to save lives. To mark this, we are encouraged to join in a National Day of Reflection, pausing at 12.00 noon for a minute’s silence, and lighting a candle on our doorsteps at 8.00 pm. In addition, at St Paul's we will focus our prayers before the Blessed Sacrament on those who have been affected by Covid on Tuesday evening at 6.30 pm, praying for those who have died, those who have suffered from the illness, and all those who have struggled either to watch family or friends suffer from Covid, or who have found the restrictions on our lives difficult to bear. Our mass, which follows at 7.00 pm will be with special intention for all these people.
