St Paul’s Church was at the Centre of Adlington’s Jubilee festivities over the four-day weekend. A two-day Family Fun Day attracted people from across the village. There were competitions, rides, games, food stalls and two fully-licensed bars, as well as a children’s entertainer, balloon modeller and live music. The event was supported by Adlington Council, and was truly a community event in the Church grounds, which are at the heart of our village. It was a great opportunity to show people what the church is about and to make them feel welcome.
On Saturday evening the focus changed, as the Church became the venue for the premiere of a Murder Mystery Play written by local author, Chris Martin. The nave became the great hall of Snetterdale Castle as sleuths attempted to work out who murdered Duke William Longbottom in a most grisly fashion in 1485.
