The feast of the Epiphany is one of the important festivals of the Christmas cycle, marking the day on which the Magi (commonly called Wise Men) visited the infant Jesus and offered him gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.    This will be marked at St Paul's at the 0800 and 1030 masses on Sunday 5 January 2020.

As in previous years, following a Central European custom, we will be blessing chalk, which can be taken away by parishioners to bless their homes.  It is customary to mark the main doorway of the home with the chalk by writing the initials of the traditional names of the Three Wise Men, Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar, along with the numbers of the current year, 2020.  A prayer card is available below to use while the doorway is being marked.

Later this month, our Messy Church on 19 January will also have an Epiphany Theme, giving all ages another opportunity to reflect on these holy visitors to the child Jesus.
