St Leonard's Blackburn Road Graveyard
There is a small old graveyard behind St Leonard's Church but the main Church of England burial ground is located 600 yards away on the Blackburn Road BB12 8JZ. This was consecrated in the middle of the 19th Century and is still open for burials and interment of cremated remains for residents of Padiham and for those with connections with the parish.
The burial records have been transcribed by the Lancashire Online Parish Clerk Project. https://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Padiham/stleonard/index.html The grave reference for most entries consists of three numbers eg 2/8/15 The first number refers to the division; the second number refers to the row within that division; and the third number refers to the grave within that row. (If an entry only has two numbers assume that the grave is in Division 1.)
As you walk down the central path of the graveyard you will notice small stones with numbers engraved on them. These correspond to the number of the grave in each row.
