At St Leonard’s Church, Padiham, on Thursday the 23 December, the Padiham Parish Food Bank hosted a “Dinner Out” meal (in addition to the usual food parcel) to the users of the food bank as part of their Christmas giving. The hot food was all donated, freshly cooked and delivered by local take-away restaurants, largely from Padiham, and served by the food bank volunteers. The Padiham Parish Food Bank has been serving the people of Padiham for a little over a year. They currently supply between 20 and 25 individuals, families and households with food parcels out of St Leonard’s church every week on a Thursday evening from 17:00 to 18:00. The team is comprised largely of volunteers from the church itself, staff at the church schools, and members of the local community. The food bank relies on donations from the community and has collections points at a number of local shops and schools. People wanting to get in touch with the food bank are encouraged to contact the church Curate, Rev’d Kit Walker, or via the Padiham Parish Food Bank Facebook page. Restaurants who donated food to the Dinner Out meal are: Hawali - Padiham, Taj Gourmet - Padiham, New Taste - Padiham, USHA - Burnley. Donations also came from Pendle Frozen Food.
