Join us to begin Lent.
Christians in many traditions attend Church services on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, in which many choose to be marked with ash (made from burnt palm branches which is then mixed with oil) in the sign of a cross on their forehead.
Lent is the 40-day period leading up to Easter marked with fasting and other forms of reflection. It reflects the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness before beginning his public ministry.
Our Ash Wednesday service at St Matthew’s will include Bible readings, prayers, a short talk and Holy Communion.
All are welcome.
