St James Church, Over Darwen

Welcome to St James Church, Over Darwen.  We're a friendly group of all ages, some of whom have been worshipping at St James for many decades and others who have made Darwen their home more recently.  Our services are relaxed and friendly, and everyone is welcome!

On a Sunday all ages are together in church.  We look at the Bible together, worship God through song, and pray. On the first of the month, we celebrate Holy Communion on a Sunday.  On Tuesdays, the service is more reflective and quieter.  We usually celebrate Holy Communion at our Tuesday service, and a simple soup lunch is served afterwards.

On Thursday evenings we have the wild and wonderful Minecraft church - a new form of church for those not familiar with church but who LOVE Minecraft (and for their long-suffering families too!)

Living out our faith during the week is really important for us at St James.  We run a food bank from Ash Grove shops on a Saturday morning, offer activities for families in school holidays, and work closely with St James CE Primary Academy.  We also have other activities that will be starting again soon.

St James is the oldest place of worship in Darwen and we are proud to still be here for the local community.
