Welcome to the page of St Thomas Musbury, a village church within the vibrant community of Helmshore.
We are the Church of England in Helmshore with our beautiful church building built in 1852. We are an open, welcoming and inclusive community here to serve the needs of everyone in our parish. All are welcome here. We are pleased to be part of the Inclusive Church network and we are committed to their Vision Statement:
“We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.
We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.
We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
We are also proud to have signed up with Eco Church and to have begun to work towards our first award.
The Church is run by a really committed group of volunteers - please contact us if there’s anything you’d like to know - or come and visit us or join us on a Sunday at 9.15 am or online on our Facebook page.
We also have a Church Hall which is available to hire from £10 per hour. Please contact Lin Cutforth to enquire about booking the Hall - 07484 363902, [email protected]
"The parish of Musbury: St Thomas is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Blackburn’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
