We are the town centre church in Haslingden, part of the Church of England. Our building is, reputedly, the highest church above sea level in the country. We all have our claim to fame.
We are an open and inclusive community welcoming people from all backgrounds and experiences. We have joined the Inclusive Church network and are committed to reflect their Vision Statement in all that we do:
“We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.
We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.
We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
Worship is at the heart of all we do and we would be delighted to welcome you to join us.
We take safeguarding seriously. Please note our following statement.
"The Parish of Haslingden: St James is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Blackburn’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
