About Us
We are situated in the north-west corner of Taunton and just beyond the edge of the town. We are part of the Benefice of Staplegrove with Norton Fitzwarren, the wider Deanery of Taunton and the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Our churches enjoy very good links with Staplegrove Church School and Norton Fitzwarren Church School.
We are a lively Christian community committed to worshipping God and serving our community. We host a number of regular activities and events throughout the year, with something for everyone.
St. John's Church building was reordered in 2017, when the fixed pews were removed and replaced with oak chairs and movable pews. A beautiful stone floor was laid over underfloor heating and the Victorian tiles relaid in the Chancel. We have a new altar with supports made from the original carved pew ends, which was dedicated by Bishop Peter in September 2018. The work has produced a large light (and warm) usable space which we hope will benefit the wider community.
