Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to attend church to get married here?

If you do not have a connection with the church, it is necessary by law to form a connection. This can be done by attending a service at St. Audries Church at least six times before your marriage. In some circumstances special licences may be required.

What facilities does the church have?

The church has a disabled toilet, with baby changing facilities. For disabled visitors, we have a wheelchair ramp available. Free parking is available for around 40 vehicles. We have a ring of six bells which can be rung before and after your wedding if you wish.

Do we need a rehearsal?

A rehearsal is part of your pre-marriage preparation, where we run through the procedure of the marriage ceremony. Often this will take place on the day before your wedding, and couples find it very reassuring.

Can you help us with floral arrangements?

Yes, we provide and retain three flower arrangements, to the right of the Altar, by the first pillar, and in the Lady Chapel. These are included if sourced from our own gardens or may be supplemented with purchased options. We can also recommend a local florist.

Are there any specific rules we should be aware of?

We do not allow drones over the Church grounds. Like many churches today, confetti is not permitted, but dried rose petal may be used outside of the church gates. No Church fittings or furnishings may be moved without permission.

What are the options for music?

We have very good organists who are available for your wedding and who will assist you in the planning of your music. There is space available for a string quartet or a choir should you wish to provide your own musicians. You are welcome to use your own music for the signing of the register and for the entrance of the bride and recessional of the bride and groom. Please note that we do not provide a sound system through which music can be played, but we have found that a phone and bluetooth speaker, provided by the wedding party, work very well.

What time of day will we be married?

Weddings may take place at any time between 8.00am and 6.00pm on most days of the year. However, the most popular time to be married at St. Audries church tends to be between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. If your wedding is taking place on a Sunday then it cannot be before 2.00pm due to church and clergy availability.

How many guests can we have?

St. Audries Church can accommodate up to 130 guests.
