We are delighted that you are considering holding your Christening or Baptism at St. Martin's.
During a Christening your child will be baptised, its the first step in an amazing journey with God, parents, godparents, friends, family and the church. You don't have to have been christened yourself, or be a regular church goer.
To get things started, please contact the benefice office on 01935 826113 or email on [email protected]. You will be given an application form and asked to choose a suitable date for your baptism service. Please return the form to the Benefice Office as soon as possible. The names of your selected godparents or sponsors can be added later if not known immediately.
You will be required to undertake a short baptism preparation course which normally lasts less than an hour and will be arranged by the minister due to take the service. Baptism preparation is an opportunity to think about baptism and make sure it’s the right option for you. It’s a chance to think about what baptism means, learn more about the service and think about other aspects of church life. We strongly encourage godparents to come if at all possible, as theirs is an important role in the baptism and life of your child. Of course, we do understand that this may not be possible if they live out of the area.
You can find useful information about christening on the Church of England website, and an FAQ documents on this page : https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/christenings
