A Welcome
The Parish Church here inherits, and proudly continues, an Anglo-Catholic or High Church style of worship in its regular Sunday and weekday services. Indeed, Saint James-the-Less is one of the few churches throughout the Diocese of Bath and Wells that lives out through rich liturgical worship the spiritual seasons of the Christian year - for instance, Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Throughout Lent the church is dressed in sack cloth, Lenten prose is sung and the ethos is of fasting and expectation. Holy Week is marked with services of Stations of the Cross, Maundy Thursday Mass with Stripping of the Altar, Good Friday Liturgy and Easter Vigil leading to the great celebration of the First Mass of Easter.
On the third Sunday on the month there is a family service, a short informal service to which everyone is welcome.
As well as the wonderful traditions such as those above, the church in Hambridge seeks to reach out into the community with social events and worship which are relevant and meaningful to the entire Parish. We also support a wide variety of charities, both religious and secular, throughout the year, and view this as an important element of our church life.
The Parish Church of Saint James-the-Less seeks to serve everyone in the Parish. Thank you for your support and God bless you in all you do.
