Caring for God's Acre - the conservation charity for Burial Grounds across the UK - encourages communities to explore nature and wildlife to be found in burial grounds. They have provided a copy of their clearly illustrated guide book to the flora, fauna and architectural features to be found in churchyards. This is available to borrow from the children's corner in church.
The wild flowers that had overrun the flower beds were allowed to bloom in Spring before the Tidy Up. Thanks to Lonsdale Pant Nursery in Chedzoy Lane for discounted bedding plants and to great support from the community who gave up their Saturday morning, the Church's front garden was cleared of tall stray grasses and took on a more formal look, allowing the famous lavender to take centre stage in the borders.
