The Parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Saxon Green serves the areas of Sydenham and Bower on the west side of Bridgwater town. It's boundaries comprise of the M5, Bath Road, the Railway line and the River Parrett.
The Church was built in 1959 when the housing estates in the area were built and there are members who can remember the building being consecrated by the Bishop of the time.
The Parish has a full time priest, The Revd Catherine Carlyon and Mr Gerald Swayne serves as a Reader. In addition, we are supported by local retired priests in the area.
"Our parish of Bridgwater: St Francis is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Bath & Wells’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Julia Holder-Sheppard on [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Ben Goodhind on 01749 588917. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
