Christ Church
Welcome to Christ Church.
Mothering Sunday marks the mid point of Lent, and traditionally was a time when peopl;e in service were given the day off to visit their Mother Church. As they made their journey, often on foot, they would pick posies of wild flowers to give to their own mothers and this tradition has been continued to the present day, when flowers are given to people in a caring role.
At 10.30 am we are holding a service of Holy Communion and this is followed by light refreshments as we continue our fellowship and catch up on the news of our friends and neighbours.
For those unable to come to this service, Astrid has prepared a sermon which is available on You Tube at
https://youtu.be/-Oq64TYai_Q
The link becomes live for you to watch on Sunday morning and a copy of her sermon can be downloaded from our news page
Our Readings this week are:;
Exodus Chapter2 verses 1-10 Moses is hidden in the Bulrushes and is later discovered by Pharoah's daughter
Luke Chapter 2 verses 33-35 Simeon blesses Jesus.
Jesus, like a mother you gather your people to you;
you are gentle with us as a mother with her children.
Despair turns to hope through your sweet goodness;
through your gentleness we find comfort in fear.
Your warmth gives life to the dead,
your touch makes sinners righteous.
Lord Jesus, in your mercy heal us;
in your love and tenderness remake us.
In your compassion bring grace and forgiveness,
for the beauty of heaven may your love prepare usAmen
