Christ Church
Welcome to Christ Church.
Sunday 22nd December is the fourthtSunday in Advent, and is the time when we think about Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and her faith in carrying the Christ Child. We light the fourth candle, looking foreward to the light in the stable, and the real message of Christmas, sung to the shepherds by the angels. Peace on earth and goodwill to all people.
Christ Church celebrates Mary's faith this Sunday at 10.30 a.m. with a service of Morning Praise in the Iona tradition. This is followed by light refreshments in the Church Room, as we meet to catch up on the week's news
For those unable to come to our service, Astrid has prepared a sermon which is available on You Tube at
https://youtu.be/b3eXejOM3ZA
The link becomes live for you to watch on Sunday morning and a copy of her sermon can be downloaded from our News page
Our Readings this week are
Micah Chapter 5, verses 2-5a The ruler to be born in Bethlehem
Luke Chapter 1 verses 39-55 Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth
God our redeemer, who prepared the Blessed Virgin Mary to be the mother of your Son:
grant that, as she looked for his coming as our saviour, so we may be ready to greet him
when he comes again as our judge;
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen
