St Augustine’s Church was mainly built in the 17th and 18th Century, although some parts are Norman. The Church consists of Chancel, Lady Chapel, Nave, transept, 3 aisles, vestry, organ loft, porch, boiler room & bell tower. Building materials are stone with a slate tile roof. The roof has recently been completely replaced and a toilet installed. There are five bells in the tower and an active bell ringing group in the village.There are eight stained glass windows. The Church has electric heating and a PA with audio loop. Disabled access is possible through the main entrance and there is a disabled toilet. There is a curtained play area set aside, for small children to use during services. The Churchyard is open for burials.
The congregation is typical in size for a rural village, the PCC is well supported and there are 10 active worship leaders. Members of the congregation take part in all services by preparing the Church, readings, intercessions etc. After each 10.30am service coffee and biscuits are served and this helps to foster a wonderful sense of community and fellowship.
