Lots of us have seen Songs of Praise on the television, and now St Matthew's Wookey are doing their own version. (Don't worry no television cameras!) Come and join us for an informal chance to sing some of your favourite hymns. We'll also hear why selcted hymns are very special to those who chose them.

Welcome to our page on A Church Near You!

St Matthew's Church is a beautiful church in the village of Wookey, near Wells. We are part of a group of 3 churches and 4 parishes, known as a benefice, which are looked after by Revd Jan Shellard-James.

There are services almost every Sunday, except during some months on the third Sunday of the month. Also if there is a 5th Sunday in a month, a service might take place at a different church in the benefice. There is also a weekly Holy Communion service which is held every Wednesday. Our parish of Wookey is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO).
