Come along to this special joyful service at the start of Holy Week. We remember Jesus entering Jeusalem. The excited crowds waved palm branches, celebrating the arrival of the long-awaited Messiah. This is the only church service happening in our churches today, so it's a chance for all of the local people to worship together. There'll be hymns, prayers, Bible readings and Holy Communion. Take away a cross made of palm leaves to help you remember Jesus over Easter. We look forward to welcoming you!

During the first three week days of Holy Week, come to St Matthew's Church, and take time to join together for 45 minutes each evening in silent meditation to think about your relationship with God and the events of Easter. There will be a short reflection to begin, a time of silence and a closing prayer.
You don't need to come to all of the sessions, just come when you can.

Join other people from local area for a short Holy Communion service without singing. This is a great service to come to if you find it difficult to attend Sunday services or if you want to celebrate Holy Communion during the week.

We join together to celebrate the Last Supper with a meal that we share on Maundy Thursday. Join us for this special occasion. There is no charge for the meal, but donations are welcome to cover church costs. Tenebrae is a chance to focus on the loss felt by Jesus' followers caused by his betrayal by Judas, his death on the cross and his burial in a tomb. This service reflects on the different shadows cast by these events, and this is symbolised by 13 candles. One by one each of these candles are extinguished leaving the church in darkness. This service reminds us that Jesus' suffered these shadows so that we might be restored to God and have eternal life.

On Good Friday, we remember Jesus' suffering and death. This time symbolises us keeping Jesus company like his family, friends and followers did at the foot of the cross. This is a thoughtful and reflective service.

Join us on the top of Henley Hill to watch the sunrise on Easter Sunday! This sunrise represents the light that Jesus' resurrection brought into the world, and we gather together in the quiet of the pre-dawn morning to witness it. Henley Hill is reached via Henley Lane in Wookey (through the last field on the left when coming from Wookey). It's best to wear wellington boots as some parts of the field might be muddy. There is limited parking for cars inside the field, and dogs can't be brought along as sheep may be in the field. There'll be a fire pit to provide some warmth, and people are welcome to bring their own chairs and torches. Hot drinks and cake will be served after the short service.

Join us as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! We will share Holy Communion and celebrate this special day! There's activities for children, and there will be Easter eggs to hunt for, which we'll share together.

It can be hard to meditate or pray on your own, so come and join a friendly group for a time of meditation/silent prayer once a month at Buxton's Community Room (left of Buxton's Close), Vicarage Road, Wookey, BA5 1JW.

Please arrive from 2pm so that we can all be seated by 2:15pm, as there is a security lock on the door. Each session starts and ends with a short reading, but the time in the middle is silent for you. There's a chance to enjoy a cuppa and a chat afterwards too. We explore the possibility of admitting being wrong and the power of love. This session is part of a series: ‘The Mystery of Everything’, which draws on the lives of Stephen and Jane Hawkins, and which features clips from the film 'The Theory of Everything'. During the series we will explore ways that the mysteries of the universe and of everyday life can energise our faith and spiritual journeys. The sessions are all standalone sessions, so if you can’t attend all of the sessions you’ll still get something out of it.
