Christ Church Henton is busy raising money to revitalise Henton Church, and the Grand Auction is one of the main events planned! Bidders can buy anything from an Underwater Hockey Experience, to a ride for four people in a Bullnose Morris and a Flatnose Morris culminating in a delicious lunch. There is a day with a Racehorse owner (hopefully in the Winners’ Enclosure), a brand new Alexa Mulberry handbag, a tour of Doulting Quarry outside Shepton Mallet (with the owner), and a rare opportunity for two to visit the Ringing Chamber of Wells Cathedral. Or you might be tempted by year long membership to Heligan Gardens in Cornwall, or three nights’ accommodation in The Reading Room in Mawnam Smith or a Cabin-sized suitcase full of Drunk Elephant skin care! The top ‘prize’ is a stay in an unimaginably beautiful Chateau (www.chateaudemissery.com) in Burgundy with a gloriously varied programme including wine-tasting, a cookery demonstration, a visit to Guedelon (a castle in the making www.guedelon.fr) and a Black Tie dinner). Start thinking of a family or friends’ reunion, a special celebration or just a fantastic holiday with like-minded friends! And there are lots more lots! Each table can seat 10 people and there are only 16 tables avalaible. Alan Willcox, from Wedmore, is the professional and amusing Auctioneer who will rattle through the 30+ lots, and ensure a thoroughly entertaining evening. Tickets (which include a Somerset Ploughman’s with Strawberries & Cream) cost £25 per person and are available from [email protected].

Christ Church, Henton

Welcome to our page on A Church Near You!

Christ Church Henton is a beautiful church in the village of Henton, near Wells. We are part of a group of 3 churches and 4 parishes, known as a benefice, which are looked after by Revd Jan Shellard-James.

There are services every Sunday, however if there is a 5th Sunday in a month, a service might take place at a different church in the benefice. There is also a weekly prayer meeting which is held every Monday. On the 1st Sunday of the month is a relaxed service over breakfast at Henton Village Hall, which is free, and very much enjoyed. You are very welcome to come to any of our services or events, and details of these can be found on this website, or on our own website www.chwchurches.co.uk There are also more details about the this church and the benefice on our website.

If you have any enquiries about baptisms, christenings, weddings, funerals or memorials please get in touch with us.

We look forward to welcoming you to our church!
