New Rector appointed

We are delighted to announce that a new Rector for the Parish and Benefice has been appointed. The Reverend Philip Macaulay will be taking up the position later this summer. Phil grew up in Somerset and spent time as a church youth worker in Yeovil before studying theology, first at Middlesex University and then for an MA at Durham. He has served his curacy in a parish in the St Albans Diocese, and this will be his first incumbency. Despite his tender age (!) Phil has a wealth of experience having stood in as priest in charge during a parish vacancy, worked as a hospital chaplain and been involved in inter-faith outreach in addition to his work with young people. I am sure many across the parish will share our excitement at Phil’s appointment and look forward to welcoming him to East Coker. Details of his installation/service of welcome will be announced in due course. When we have an idea of his arrival date, we will organise a less formal meet and greet event to which you will all be invited.
