FOLSC
Friends of Long Sutton Church : established in 2005 with the sole aim of providing financial assistance to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) who have responsibility for the maintenance of the church building. Contrary to popular opinion, the church authorities do not contribute to building maintenance costs and without our additional support, there is a strong likelihood the church building would deteriorate. Sadly, to maintain the condition of our church, like any ancient building, this involves constant sympathetic repairs from skilled craftsmen.
We have a small number of volunteer trustees who manage the activities of our charity and are supported by our members who mainly live in Long Sutton and the surrounding villages and hamlets. New members are always most welcome and membership details can be provided by any of the trustees. In addition to funds raised by membership contributions and donations, we organise a programme of events each year and our aim is to have fun while raising money for an excellent cause. FOLSC donations do not extend to religious aspects of the church.
Our activities vary from year to year with details published here on the village website as well as by local advertising. A summary of previous activities is detailed on this website and normally involves participation in eating, drinking, dancing, music, lectures or combinations of all of the above! Our members, many of whom are secular, come from a wide cross section of the local community who have a single aim to support a very fine building which is the focal point of our village and with their continued support will remain so for many generations to come. We have charitable status and are registered with the Charity Commission against number 1109211. We welcome any questions with regard to membership, events or other FOLSC activities as well as suggestions or ideas for future fund raising/social activities.
