St Michael and All Angels, Stoke St. Michael

Welcome to the Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels, in Stoke St Michael.

We are a rural church in the middle of Somerset, deep within the Mendip Hills, and a stones throw from the towns of Frome, Midsomer Norton, Wells and Shepton Mallet. We are connected to neighbouring churches of Leigh-on-Mendip, Downhead and the Postlebury Group. Services take place amongst the churches on a rota basis

We are a small congregation, but friendly and enthusiastic. Visitors to our services and other events are warmly welcomed.

We are currently in Vacancy, since our Parish Priest, Revd Anthony Dickson, retired in May 2024. We are pleased to welcome a variety of vicars from neighbouring parishes and retired clergy to help us in services during the Vacancy. Plans are underway to recruit a new Vicar, but we are unlikely to recruit until early 2025.

In the absence of a Vicar please contact the Churchwardens with any queries, or Claire our Parish Administrator- on 07404 824355 (although please note that she works part time hours and her phone isn't checked for messages between her working hours)

Open Church

The church continues to be open every day, 10am to 4pm, for individual private prayer. We pray you will find peace and God’s love there when you visit.

If you have specific prayers for yourself or family or friends please do get in touch with us, and members of the church community will be happy to pray for you.
