Parish & Churchyard Record Database
The Community Cafe inside the church has a computerised heritage database, where you can search the Parish Records for baptisms and marriages in St Giles church, and burials in the Churchyard up to 2014. The database also holds burial and cremation information for the Civil Cemetery up to 2021, which is run by the Parish Council. We hope the database will help you to identify your ancestors. Recent developments have included mapping the full churchyard and graveyard plot positions for each of the different areas.
The facility available today in the Heritage hub provides free access and formed part of a project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund which provided a substantial part of the recent repair and conservation of the nave roof of St Giles. Volunteers have continued to add information to the database and further work to add information will be undertaken in the next few years.
Information on how to access the database is available on the table next to the screen.
