Occurring
for 2 hours, 30 mins
Venue Address
Please note that our postal address is Bruton Road, Evercreech, Shepton Mallet,, BA4 6HY, United Kingdom
This will start from the various churches in the Benefice. In Evercreech we shall
begin at 12.30pm from the cross opposite the church, and (joining with those
walking from other churches) will finish with the final service in the churchyard at
Batcombe at about 2.30pm. As in past years, we shall carry a cross on the
pilgrimage, and stop en-route to reflect on the story of that first Good Friday and
what it means for us today. For those walking from other churches please ask in
your church when you will be starting out.
The journey from Evercreech is about 3 miles … as far as possible the route will be
along footpaths, but this may have to be adapted depending on the weather and other
factors - such as, some of the footpaths may cross fields where there are cows
grazing - though as far as possible we shall avoid these!
Please come with appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather - I’m sorry but
we cannot guarantee warm sunshine! Also bring whatever food and drink you need
for the journey. And don’t forget, you will need to make your way back from
Batcombe afterwards … though, of course, we shall also welcome anyone turning
up at Batcombe just for the final service - especially if they have a car and can ferry
some walkers home!

St Peter

Members of this lively church are active in all areas of village life and the friendly congregation always welcomes newcomers and visitors.  There is an opportunity to chat over a cup of coffee or tea after the 9.30am service every Sunday.

We look forward to welcoming you at our services and events at St Peter's.  We are an Inclusive Church, an Eco-Church with a silver award, and a Fairtrade church.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Evercreech is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Bath & Wells’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Liz Henderson, email: [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor [https://www.bathandwells.org.uk/safeguarding]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
