Maundy Thursday Supper and Communion

Occurring
for 2 hours, 30 mins
Venue
Blackford Village Hall
Address
Blackford Village Hall, School Lane, Blackford, Wedmore, Somerset, BS28 4NX, United Kingdom

An informal Bring and Share Supper for all ages in Blackford Village Hall, during which communion is shared. Starts 6.00 p.m. on Thursday 17 April.

On this night Jesus celebrated the Passover Supper, a celebration meal, with his disciples at which he instituted the sharing of bread and wine, his body and blood. We will be holding a Bring and Share Supper at which all ages are welcome, during which a simple act of Communion will be celebrated.
After the Last Supper Jesus and his disciples went to the Garden of Gethsemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives. There he was arrested. We shall go down to Holy Trinity and hear about this in the gospel of the watch at the end of the service. The altar is stripped and we leave in quiet disorder, reminding us that the disciples fled and left Jesus:
