Every six years in the Church of England a completely new electoral roll is produced. Membership of the church electoral roll gives you the right to stand to be on the church council (PCC) and also vote at the annual meeting. It is also a good indicator of being a member of the church. It doesn't have any bearing on finances. Enrolment is a way of saying “I belong” and is an act of commitment to your local church and the Church as a whole. It opens the way for greater involvement in the life of the Church at parish, deanery, diocesan and national levels.
Even if you are already on the electoral roll you need to apply afresh, whether you have been a church member here for decades or a few months.
There will be application forms in each church from Sunday 16 March or you can download one here.
Completed forms can be left in church (look for the relevant basket/box) or returned to the appropriate electoral roll officer by just before Easter at the latest.
