Welcome to the Friends of St. Leonard. Following a public meeting held in the Church Hall in 1978, the Friends were formed. With a membership of nearly 40 people, they had an objective of keeping St. Leonard’s open as a place of worship. It was thought that the fabric of the church was in good order until the quinquennial inspection in 1979 revealed that a new roof was urgently required and so the fundraising began.
The Friends are enthusiastic about supporting community life for the benefit of the village and organise social events for all age groups to enjoy with all proceeds going towards the continued restoration of the fabric of the church. Whether it is for a place to worship, get married, have your baby christened, a place of remembrance for loved ones, carols by candle light service at Christmas or for people visiting the church to admire the thanks-giving window to commemorate Rodney Stoke as a Thankful Village – the church is a much loved focus of our village.
We hold several events year where everyone is welcome to join us, some are ticketed, others not! Watch out on this website and for posters round the village for our next event.
