Trinity church is currently seeking funding for repairs to the clock dials, inner frames and surrounding brickwork. In Autumn 2023 it was reported that there had been some major movement in the North face dial and surrounding brickwork. On closer inspection the dial needed some attention to make the dial safe from coming away from the wall and crashing to the ground. this is the reason why currently there are no hands on the north dial. The engineers that carried out the work to make the dial safe for the moment, also did an engineers report on the major work that need carrying out. In Spring 2024 the quote for repairs to the clock amount to around £90,000. Trinity church don't have the money, so currently we are seeking grants and funding so we can proceed with the building work. The money will cover repairs and refurbishment to the north dial, refurbishment to the existing three dials, the stonework surrounding the clock dials and 4 new wooden frames to replace the existing frames. If you can help in any way either through donation or fundraising, we would love to hear from you. Many in the area of Ossett & Gawthorpe have asked about the clock, and are keen to have the clock dials restored. if you would like to help please contact Revd Andrew Griffin on: [email protected]
