We were passed an email from the temporary organist at the Church of the Holy Cross, Sherston in Wiltshire.
"An eminent organist is coming tomorrow to give a recital, and in my research I discovered that 120 years ago our organ was transferred to Thornbury Baptist Church and it was then moved to Weston Beggard in 1988. The National Pipe Organ register on the internet seems to believe that it is still there.
I know this sounds a bit like old folk tracking down what happened to their dad’s vintage motorbike – but out of curiosity, do you still have the organ – is is still played?"
Our organist was able to respond to them and send photographs of the, still working and played, organ in our church, and has been invited to play at Sherston at some point in the future!
