Lent Course 2025

Occurring
Every Thursday at for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
The Pilgrim Centre
Address
The Pilgrim Centre, Dale Street, Craven Arms, SY7 9PB

Lent Course: “This year sees the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, which formulated the first version of the Nicene Creed, indicating the importance of knowing what it is that we believe. We say a Creed at most services; why are we saying it? Do we ever think deeply about what it is we are say-ing? For this year’s Lent Course we are following ‘The Creed Explored’, a five week exploration of the Creed, following the text of the Apostle’s Creed but also looking at some of the more detailed statements in the Nicene and Athanasian Creeds. Would you like to explore what we believe in more depth? Each session consists of video talks and group Bible study and discussion. Come and join us in the Pilgrim Centre at 7.30 pm on the following dates (mostly Thursdays): 13th & 20th March, 25th March (Tuesday), 3rd & 10th April. We look forward to seeing you.” Clive

Please note that the meeting in w/c 24th March will be on TUESDAY, 25th and not on the Thurtsday.

Stokesay: St John the Baptist

The Church of Saint John the Baptist: founded in the 12th century, rebuilt in the 17th century.  Serving God and the community of Craven Arms into the 21st century.

Our church stands in a glorious setting amongst the hills of south Shropshire, adjacent to Stokesay Castle, one of the jewels of English Heritage's crown.  We aim to keep the church open for visitors to enjoy in line with the opening hours of the castle.

Sunday services of Holy Communion are held at the Pilgrim Centre in Dale Street, Craven Arms on First and Third Sundays of the month at 8.00am.  On the Second and Fourth Sundays, the service of Holy Communion with Hymns is held at Stokesay at 9.45am (during the winter months, these services are held at the Pilgrim Centre).  The Fifth Sunday is a joint Benefice service - see service poster in Notices section for details).
