Cafe Church at Lydham Village HallOn Wednesday 9th October we held a second well attended Cafe Church at Lydham Village Hall. People were served on arrival with bacon rolls and toast with fruit juice, tea and coffee. Revd Giles welcomed people before interviewing Peter Iles about his faith journey and the role faith plays in his life. Gloria Howell then beautifully read the Bible story of the Good Samaritan. Mark Melluish then picked up on the theme of compassion in a brief talk which was followed by lively table discussions on this subject. During the table discussions people were fed with pastries and had their drinks topped up. After an hour we finished, with Mark Melluish leading us in prayers collected from around the tables, and Revd Giles gave a final blessing to send people safely on their way.People left wanting to have had more time to talk which is always a good sign. Cafe Church is a great way to explore the Christian faith in an informal way in friendly company with good food. We next meet at Lydham Village Hall on Wednesday 20th November at 10.00am, when we will be looking at the subject of generosity. Everyone is welcome; just turn up.
At the beginning of Holy Week three crosses will be erected on Ratchup Hill, Ratlinghope. There will then be a service of reflection at 12 noon on Good Friday to commemorate the events of the day when Jesus died on the cross. Everyone is welcome to join us for this whole Benefice (and beyond) service.Experience a view of Ratlinghope and beyond that you would not normally see (by kind permission of Mr Matt Sankey). We will meet outside the churchyard at 11.15am ready for a walk up the Hill. Parking is available on the camping field (by kind permission of Mr John Sankey). Transport will be available if you don't think you can manage the walk.Following the service there will be light refreshments, tea & coffee available at the churchTo book transport please email admin@onnycamlad.co.uk or call 01588 650580 by Thursday morning.
