About Us
Hello and a warm welcome to St Mary Magdalene, Quatford which is located approximately two miles from the centre of Bridgnorth on the A442 to Kidderminster and sign posted church. Founded as a collegiate church by Roger, Earl of Shrewsbury - on the promise of love - and consecrated on 14th November 1086, its status became that of a parish church when the college was transferred Bridgnorth in 1101..
Constructed of sandstone and tufa, nearly 34 steps lead up to the church. An electrically powered lift was installed in 2005 to enable the disabled (or tired!) easier access.
During the summer a local farmer brings his sheep to graze on our hilly churchyard, helping to keep it tidy. Which also helped us towards our Silver Eco Church award, showing our conservation of nature/wildlife within the churchyard.
We are a small but faithful congregation who welcome people to join us in our church.
