We are in a Shared Benefice with the Stiperstones group of churches, and our Rector is Rev Greg Smith. email [email protected] 

We are a friendly church situated in the middle of Pontesbury. We are open every day from 10am - 4pm. We also have drop in Tea Break on Wednesdays 2pm - 4pm and Coffee Stop on Fridays 10am - 12pm.

St George’s Priorities 2026

1. Project George: to repair stonework and stained glass and to remodel the west end, for the benefit of the whole community.

2. To engage more fully with new families

3. A more community-engaged church attending to the needs of the poor.


Our monthly service pattern is as follows: 

1st Sunday 10.30am Communion, 

1st Tuesday 2.30pm, Tea Service (short Communion service followed by time for tea, cake and chat)

2nd Sunday 10.30 am Morning Worship without Communion, 

3rd Sunday 10.30 am Communion, 

4th Sunday 10.30am Family Worship without Communion. 

On the 5th Sunday we move around the Benefice churches for a shared Communion Service at 10.30am. (Please see the weekly newsletter for the venue)

Messy Church

Monthly. Every First Thursday at for 1 hour, 30 mins
Pontesbury: St George's
Pontesbury Shrewsbury, SY5 0PS, United Kingdom

This takes place on the First Thursday of the month, during school term time. All are welcome. We will have activities and fun for all, followed by shared hot food. Contact Greg 07902 794653 for further information.
