St George's Orleton

St. George's Church, Orleton, is a welcoming and inclusive church with a regular pattern of varied worship. We are part of the Leominster Team Ministry.

We have a number of family services over the Christmas period. In addition, there is a ‘midnight mass’ (which is actually at 9pm!) on Christmas Eve. Please see our events pages for more details.

Anyone is welcome to attend any of these services, regardless of what you believe and regardless of whether you regularly go to church or whether this would be your first time at a church service.

If you are interested in the church more as a community space or historic building than a religious space then there’s a lot going on, and we aim to make the church a warm and welcoming space for all.

2025 is our 900-year anniversary, and the St George’s Community Association is holding a number of events throughout the year to mark this – starting with a wine-tasting on Saturday 25th January at 7pm (tickets £5, available in advance from the Village Shop).

We also have two community groups who meet regularly in the space – the Orleton History Group who meet monthly, and the Singing for Fun group who meet weekly on a Friday at 11am to sing informal songs.

There are also always children’s books and colouring sheets etc. set out, so if you just need a change of scene over the holidays then you are more than welcome to drop in at any time.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Orleton is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Hereford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor via the contact details at this link: https://stgeorgesorleton.org.uk/journal/About%20us/Safeguarding/none/none. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
