For the third consecutive year, the church team at St. Margaret's Ratlinghope have erected three crosses on one of the hills in the village. The crosses serve as a visual reminder to the community of the significance of Easter and offer an invitation to engage people in the celebrations. We will be meeting at the church at 11.15am ready to walk up the hill for a Good Friday Reflections Service. Everyone is welcome to join us. There is transport available for any that feels the walk would be too difficult (Please ring 01588 650580 or email [email protected] to book transport). After the service there will be light refreshments available back at the church. We look forward to seeing you on Friday.

Myndtown: St John the Baptist

Welcome to St John the Baptist and it's beautiful rural setting. We are part of the OnnyCamlad Benefice, a group of 9 churches within the Diocese of Hereford.

This Church of England Church dates from the 12th Century or earlier. It is considered to be unique as a country church (not only within Shropshire, but within the whole country) as it was not "spoilt" by Victorian restoration and retains its thoroughly rural, simple (almost primitive) look and feel. Once a substantial medieval village, the hamlet of Myndtown now has only the former rectory and a farmhouse with its barns.

It is in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, at the end of a dead-end lane at the foot of the dramatic Long Mynd (much of which is National Trust Land). This makes it a place of silence, broken only by birdsong, the lowing of cattle and bleating of sheep. Even non-religious people feel it is a place of sanctuary from the modern world. Our church is open everyday for you to come and have some quiet time and we welcome visitors to all of our services.

Events & Services for 2025

Valentine Service - Sunday 9th February, 5 pm

Across the Benefice there are a range of services every Sunday so if we haven't got a service here at Myndtown there will be one close by.

The parish of Myndtown is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our safeguarding officer, Mrs Sue Cooke. The Diocese of Hereford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
