Eco-friendly Churchyard Party

We are delighted that Caring for God's Acre are coming to oversee the Summer cutting of the wildflower meadow in our cemetery. Anyone interested in eco-friendly meadow management, wildflowers, pollinators, learning to scythe, etc. will be most welcome.

Our Churchwarden Merlin Unwin writes:“The cemetery scything party is on Wednesday 16 August and it would be super to see those who can come. Rakes are the key tools to bring. Last year the scythers from Caring for God’s Acre, who are quite a professional lot, turned up at 10am and set about sharpening and bashing their steel blades. They probably started at about 10.30 but the grass wasn’t really cut in sufficient quantity for gathering up till about 11am. So unless they change the timing I think 11am till lunchtime is the useful time. And maybe bring along your sandwich and drink. It was most convivial last year and there were some good botanists there too.”
