A family based service (no communion), followed by refreshment.

Our newest project is to knit beautiful blankets for anyone in our parish who might have had a bereavement, or a diagnosis, or might in some way be needing that little bit of extra support and care. We meet weekly on a Tuesday afternoon and enjoy tea and cake while we knit. All yarn is provided. This blessing was read as we started, and we shared a few
moments of silence while we knitted (with the lovely and evocative background of needles clicking):

Coffee morning for Venezuela
On 9th July, it was agreed that all of the income we received from coffee sales at our regular St Cuthbert’s Café would be donated to Christian Aid’s appeal for
Venezuelan earthquake victims. Those, together with some additional donations received afterwards, enabled us to send the magnificent amount of £600 to
Christian Aid. Many thanks to everyone who donated.

Come along to the village hall for home-made cakes, tea and coffee and plenty of friendly chat. A great way to socialise with village friends old and new while supporting the church. Sacred Space is an opportunity to come together in St Cuthbert's Church, Clungunford, at 17.45pm for a 6 o’clock start.
Our Sacred Space began the new season with a celebration of autumn as we ‘took advice from a raindrop’ (from a poem of the same name by Kim Stafford) and enjoy beautiful music alongside short periods of silent meditation. This event will finish at 7pm. This is an inclusive group and all are very, very welcome. Dates until Christmas are as follows:

An informal, lay-led service with hymns, followed by refreshments and cake

Mary Steer, Chair of the British Lichen Society, and her colleagues will be returning to St Cuthbert’s to carry out a further lichen survey in the churchyard. They are returning to specifically search for specimens that
had been identified during an earlier survey but weren’t to be found in July. Do come along for a cup of tea and to encourage them in their search. Any questions to Anne Gledhill on 07989 208863 or

This year’s course will be run by Christine and Robert Flitney and is open to anyone with an interest. We will be following a York Course, called "Life in the Comma" - an enigmatic title, referring to the sentence in the Apostles Creed:
‘We believe in ... Jesus Christ ... who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified and died and was buried.’

That comma between the words "Mary" and "suffered"; stands in for the area of study and exploration of this course!

Help us keep our church and churchyard looking lovely. Bring tools if you have them, refreshments provided. If the weather is wet an cold, we have jobs inside the church, from dusting to examining the contents of the filing cabinet. Who knew we had so much!

There are tasks for everyone, from gentle dusting to furniture moving. And if it's dry there is still plenty to do outside. Do join us.

We look forward to sharing with you a festive programme of poetry to celebrate Christmas. Old favourites and new surprises to kindle the Christmas spirit. Sacred and secular, there will be something for everyone, from age 10 to 100! There will, of course, be delicious festive refreshments, to include Hilary’s traditional Christmas cake. £10 in advance please, (so we make enough food!) Christmas Carol Concert, Wednesday 16th December, 6pm
(Preceded by a choral workshop with Alistair Auld, and organist, 2pm the same day)
Join us for a traditional Carol Service with both sacred and secular readings. We will sing some of our favourite carols, supported by the Marches Choir, so do come along and add your voice to theirs! There is
no charge for the Carol Concert, but we will welcome donations. We would love a full church, as has usually happened in previous years, so do come along. From the youngest babe-in-arms to the oldest in our parish, all are very welcome.
The choir will also sing some of their own choices, and Choir Master Alistair Auld is inviting you to join the Marches Choir for an afternoon workshop in the church, with organist. With hot drinks available throughout the afternoon, this will be a really lovely chance to enjoy the experience of choral singing and then performing at the Carol Service in the early evening. The workshop will be from 2pm, and the cost for participants will be around £30.

Celebrating Christmas
Crib Service, Christmas Eve, 6pm
We are delighted to again be offering a lovely family service for all ages on this very special night. There will be carols and short readings that tell the Christmas story as we gather around the crib scene, and of
course, plenty of opportunities for our young ones to play an active role if they’d like to join in. This is the perfect precursor to going home and hanging up the stockings! Everyone will receive a very warm welcome at this special service to celebrate the joy and spirit of Christmas.
