Give money to the church

We are able to receive all forms of income - gifts of money, grants or payments for services - via a variety of means.

The treasurer, Raymond Scott, writes:

We are always very grateful to receive any financial support to help cover the costs of running the church.

We are signed up to the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) and through it can receive regular donations with the option of increasing the gift each year by the rate of inflation. Register online at https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/donors/find-your-parish/colegate-st-george-norwich/. PGS can also be used to make one-off donations without registration. Please note that the PGS reports activity on our account to us once a month (on 10th of the month), so it can take up to a month for us to become aware of new members and donations placed through the PGS. Have a chat with me about this if you're interested in joining the scheme.

One-off and recurring gifts can also be sent via Give A Little at https://givealittle.co/campaigns/ac2b2bac-5cb7-4fad-9d1a-b20903452660. The online form includes the gift aid mandate.

Individuals (and organisations) can make direct transfers into the church bank account. (If you are a regular giver, there is a form attached to help with setting up a standing order.) The bank account details are Lloyds, account name 'Parochial church council of St George Colegate', account number 02124306, sort code 30-96-17.

Individuals who are UK tax payers, whose donation is a gift (not a payment for an item or service), can complete a gift aid mandate form (attached) so the tax can be reclaimed. Cash gifts can also be made via the wall box in church, or in the offertory plate at the Sunday Eucharist service.

The Rector, Rev Alaric Lewis, writes:

We live in worrying, uncertain times. And when we worry about so much - increased energy costs, inflation, war, the decline of the post-Covid Church, not to mention our own individual struggles - it is easy to let that worry so accumulate that we lose sight of other important things.

I would like to invite us all to reflect in gratitude for all that St George's offers, not only us, but also the neighbourhood around us. I really believe people need what we have to offer, and so I encourage everyone to commit to making sure that our unique witness continues, and to specifically reflect on how we might be able to increase what we can offer St George's, either regularly or through a special gift. Our treasurer Raymond will be happy to answer any queries about how this might be done, and both Annie and I would welcome the opportunity to talk and pray with anyone who would like some spiritual help regarding this important discernment.

Anything that we can do makes a difference.

Finally, please allow me to express my gratitude for all that you do in your support of the ministry and mission of St George Colegate. I am overwhelmed by the generosity I see here, and thank God daily that he has called me to be your priest.
