Only lots of extra guy ropes and other fixings, plus some very hard and determined work by several helpers enabled some of the gazebos and stalls to be safely erected outside. Inside the hall there was a hive of activity and bustle with refreshments and all the usual stalls plus some extra ones who had been relocated there to keep out of the wind. It was lovely to be able to welcome all the many visitors, families and friends who came to support the fete, and who helped to create a very happy atmosphere both inside the crowded hall, as well as outside. Sadly the traditional games had to be cancelled for safety reasons, but The Norfolk Jazz Quartet certainly enjoyed their new location inside the hall and entertained everyone with their excellent music The very challenging weather had proved unable to prevent the afternoon from being a very happy and successful one once again, and a very big thank you must be said to the large team of helpers whose endeavours, together with a Bulldog spirit, made it all possible.Early indications are that the proceeds this year will be similar to those in recent years, and will be split equally between both Churches and the Villagers’ Hall. Imagine the scene: half a dozen wagging tails as their owners met and ’conversed' in the broad aisle of our village church.A grand sight in a grand site!Once again, during a lovely service, we heard insights on animal husbandry from sheep farmer, James Duncan, and points to look for when showing dogs in competitions, from Sheelin Cuthbert. Our prayers were led by people of all ages, and a moving description of ‘love’ read by Jenny Rayner.Folk who don’t often get a mention are those who arrive early to prepare everything - so special thanks to Carolyn Maddox, William Travis and Ian Newton.Fiona Newton
