There were two exhibitions to look at, one about the US airmen stationed nearby during the Second World War, and one about the Garnier and Albemarle/Keppel families. The Earls of Albemarle owned the local estate and most of the village families worked there. We have recently mapped the church yard and the history revealed on the various memorials is fascinating. On display were books, photographs, portraits and old documents, invitations and letters relating to these prominent families. Between 12 noon and 1400 visitors enjoyed a simple lunch of sandwiches and tea and coffee and cake.
