We are grateful to both Mick Finnemore, Ecologist for coming along to talk to us and Bex Cross of The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) for arranging a Bat Night for us at St Mary's on Monday 18th July. It was an interesting night, and well attended by approximately 35 wildlife enthusiasts keen to hear about bats and their detection from Mick. Although the bats were a little elusive, just a few coming out from their roost, we were able to hear their presence on the detector equipment Mick had brought with him, and 4 species inhabiting the church Soprano Pipistrelles, Common Pipistrelles, Long Eared Bats and Natter’s Bat were able to be identified by their droppings inside the building on the night. You can see the results from the overnight detector results in the files attached to this article sent to us by Bex.
