Time to renew our Electoral Roll

Electoral Roll Application with Privacy Notice-Benefice.pdf Download

This year our churches' Electoral Rolls are due for renewal. If you are currently on our Electoral Roll, I would like to warmly invite you to consider renewing your membership. If not you are very welcome to join.

What is the Electoral Roll?

The church’s Electoral Roll is the register of its voting members; it is a list of those qualified to attend and to vote at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Electoral rolls provide an indication of the real membership and strength of the church.

Who can be on the Electoral Roll?

Baptised adults (over 16 years) who live in the parish, or who have worshipped regularly at our church for at least six months and are committed to being part of the life of the local Church of England congregation.

Why join, or remain on, the Electoral Roll?

Being on the church electoral roll is a way of of saying, “I belong”. For us it is an act of commitment to our churches, and the church as a whole. It opens the way for a greater involvement in the life of the church, at parish, deanery, diocesan and national levels. Also, for those enrolled who now live away from the parish, it is a way of continuing to identify your local church as being “my church”.

Is there a cost involved?

There is no obligation on a member of the Electoral Roll to subscribe or make donations to the church, although members will be aware that our churches rely entirely on voluntary donations and that costs are high, so all contributions are always gratefully received. Details of our finances form part of our Annual Report as presented at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting.

What do I need to do to continue on the Electoral Roll?

If you would like to continue as a member of the Electoral Roll please can you complete the form (DOWNLOAD HERE) and return it to me at Beckfield house, Cross Haw Lane, Clapham, LA2 8DZ, [email protected],  or to George Greenbank, Electoral Roll Officer at Wenning Bank, Clapham, LA2 8ES (for Clapham and Keasden) or Cate Muckersie, Wood View, Wharfe, Austwick LA2 8DQ (for Austwick with Eldroth)

Thank you for your support of the church which is warmly appreciated.

Kind regards

Revd John Davies

Vicar, Clapham with Keasden and Austwick with Eldroth
