St Edward the Confessor
Our Mission
To connect with people of all ages and experience and to help create an inclusive, welcoming community through weekly worship, group study and a wide-range of social activities.
St. Edward the Confessor Church offers central Anglican worship at its best. Within the immediate vicinity are Anglo-Catholic churches and a Charismatic church, therefore St Edward’s meets the needs of those looking for something in-between.
One of the strengths of St. Edward’s is that it is a very friendly and welcoming church. South Yorkshire people are noted for their warmth and hospitality and this is part of our “evangelism”; the social life and the sharing of food is very important to us and this has led to people coming for a social event and becoming part of the worshipping community.
Our evangelism is “friendship” evangelism; we encourage people to belong and to then hopefully believe.
There is a need for more young people, children and families and this will be the focus for future mission events. We are also aware that whilst welcoming people through the front door, we do not want to lose anyone through the back door.
St. Edward’s is a church on the move, ready to go forward to the next phase of mission and ministry, prayerfully looking always to God for guidance.
