It is understandable that parishioners wish to personalise the graves of family members in our churchyards. As with most things, however, there are regulations that govern the churchyards and decorations fall within those regulations. There should be no “digging” around graves. Plastic flowers, windmills, statues of any sort should not be displayed. It is likely we will arrange for these items to be moved over the course of this year – they will not be thrown away initially, but a notice will be put in the Bowline and in each churchyard advising where they have been moved to. After a given date, they will then be thrown away. You might therefore wish to remove any items that are not a simple pot of flowers or a single plant before then.
Thank you for your understanding. Revd Claire.
