People, look East! An Advent concert by Tamesis Chamber Choir
Saturday 30th November, 7:00pm, Shiplake Church
We are looking forward to entertaining you in a concert of seasonal music on the eve of the first Sunday in Advent. From Monteverdi, Gibbons and Bach through to Rutter, Lauridsen and Chilcott, we’ll bring you lovely choral music from the Renaissance to the present day: you certainly won’t be bored with this rich variety of Advent-inspired sound, including carols.
There are some well-loved favourites in our programme, like the choral movements from Bach’s Wachet Auf cantata, Lauridsen’s atmospheric O Magnum Mysterium, Bruckner’s Virga Jesse and arrangements of The Angel Gabriel and Angelus ad Virginem. As always, we are directed by Louise Rapple Moore who also directs Shiplake Community Choir, and we are thrilled to welcome organist Simon Dinsdale to accompany us.
There will be interval refreshments, there is plenty of on-site parking in the church car park and at the adjacent Shiplake College, and it’s just 15 minutes by road from either Reading or Henley-on-Thames. The concert starts at 7:00 pm and will be finished by around 9:00 pm. All you have to do is commit to coming along - so please buy your tickets now!
