Crossroads now has a small group dedicated to combatting the effects of climate change and biodiversity loss. We want to be and share good news for God's earth and to help work towards net carbon zero, with the rest of the Church of England by 2030. We've signed up for the national Eco Church award programme to help achieve this.
Our worship and teaching, buildings, grounds, community engagement and lifestyle are all areas where we need to make changes to reflect this. It could be putting up bird boxes in our grounds, writing to our MP, litter-picking in the local area, seeking climate justice for those in other countries, and a whole variety of activities and ways of being. We were pleased to be awarded Eco Church Bronze for St Anne's in October 2023 and we're now working towards Silver there. We're working towards Bronze at St Elizabeth's, aiming to be more proactive with improving biodiversity in the small garden space there.
