Each life is precious to God, who brought us to birth, and in whose arms we die. Throughout human history, people have needed ceremonies to mark the end of a loved one's life, whether quiet and solemn or large and joyful. It is a privilege to come alongside you in your grief, and help you plan a funeral or memorial service.
If you would prefer a service in a church building, St Bartholomew's is available; alternatively, one of the ministers here can attend a crematorium or cemetery chapel to lead a funeral for you. A Christian funeral must include a Bible reading and some prayers, but these can be chosen by you, and there is plenty of flexibility to include music and other readings of your choice. Sometimes family or friends like to have the opportunity to share memories of the person who has died.
At St Bartholomew's we have the facilities for live organ or piano music, recorded music, photo slideshows of your loved ones, the possibility of a PA system outside, if you are expecting large numbers, and/or filming the service and uploading it online for anyone not able to be there in person (please note, we are unable to live-stream).
To arrange a funeral at St Bartholomew's Church, or involving a minister from this parish at another location, please let your Funeral Director know, and they will contact us.
